    My second attempt at work-away

Despite the fact that I was a little unlucky with my first work-away, I decided to give it another go. When I had made the decision to go travelling for a longer period, I really wanted to make sure I stay in some places a little longer and also try out working in a few different areas. I was hoping that it would help me get a better idea of what I want to do in my future and it is also a great way of getting to know a country and its people. Another obvious plus is that I save a lot of money. Ok so I was determined…

My Acatenango Volcano Overnight Hike – What was I thinking?

I met a lovely Norwegian girl on my bus trip from Belize to Guatemala. Her name is Tune-Lisa but I quickly nicknamed her Tuna. I asked Tuna what her plans were during her time in Guatemala, and she started telling me about this hike up a volcano that she had booked. Problem number one; where is the bus…

    My first work-away experience

Aloha from Hawaii. I have spent about 2 weeks in Hawaii now. I’m on the Island of Hawaii or also nicknamed the big islands. It is the biggest of 5 major islands. I decided to do a work-away while here. For people that don’t know what that is, it is a work placement where you exchange a couple of hours of work a day for free accomodation and often food. This is one of my strategies of making this trip last longer. Hawaii is not one of the cheapest places to go, so by me doing a work-away I get to experience local Hawaiian life and get to stay for a longer…

    Ready, set, go

The count down is on. Just a little over a week to go before I leave on my adventure. It’s been a hectic 2 months. I’ve been busy with selling all my belongings and organising everything. I’m glad I started nice and early and although it dragged out a bit selling things in stages worked out quite well. Have you ever wondered what is involved in giving up your life and going on a trip of a lifetime? Here is what I’ve done and some tips and tricks. Step 1 – Quit your job This was actually quite easy. I chose to do it first as I thought that once…
