    A little paradise called Holbox

The first thing I did after leaving Cuba and when arriving in Cancun was ordering a vegetarian burrito. I couldn’t wait to eat lots of vegetables and have some spices in my food. The burrito didn’t disappoint. It was so delicious. Luckily it’s not hard to find tasty food in Mexico. I didn’t spend much time in Cancun. Before leaving for Cuba, I had spent 4 days there, however I was a little unlucky with the weather. It rained 3 out of the 4 days. Fortunately, I picked the sunny day to visit the beach. The beach in Cancun is along the hotel zone and it is almost entirely built…

    A trip around Cuba

After my stay in the hostel in Havana, it was time to join my travel group. We had a small group with only 5 people, which consisted of one English girl, a Hungarian couple, an American girl (my roommate) and myself. It was nice to have such a small group, and we all got along quite well. The tour included a round-trip from Havana to Venãles to Cienfuegos to Trinidad and back to Havana via Santa Clara. I decided to stay in Trinidad rather than going back to Havana, but more about that later. Check out the photos and videos below. Click on the thumbnail to enlarge images. After long…

La Habana – first impressions and walking through the streets of Havana

Cuba has been on my list of countries to visit for a long time, so when I saw how affordable the flights from Cancun to Havana were I couldn’t resist and I decided to hop on a plan. It’s only a quick 1.20h flight. The plan for my 2.5weeks in Cuba was to stay in Havana a few days before joining a group for a week. I was quite excited by the idea of the group tour. I had been travelling for almost 2 months, and I was looking forward to just turn up and then someone would tell me where to go. For the remaining time I decided to…

    1 week in San Francisco

Wow, talk about a shock to the system. The next stop after the warm summery temperatures of Hawaii was San Francisco. After an average temperature of 25-27degrees the 15degrees and rain that welcomed me to San Fran were a little shocking to both me and my body. My body promptly reacted with getting sick. But luckily I was staying with my dear friend Betsy. Betsy and I met 15 years ago while playing indoor volleyball in Sydney. Unfortunately Betsy decided to move back to the US, so I have seen very little of her over the last few years. I was excited to spend some quality time with her. Despite…

Exploring the North Shore and the West Coast (Oahu Part 2)

Of course I also had to leave Honolulu and surrounds to go and explore the famous north shore as well as the less visited west side of the island. I did two trips to the north shore. The first one was with a couch surfing host that took me, a friend of mine and 2 other couch surfers on a trip around the east side and north shore of the island. The second time I hired a car, so I could stay at places located outside of Honolulu. First stop was the Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden. We went there just because I had seen a shot on Instagram that I also…
